missing things
three sets of keys lost in pockets
one pink croc
two garden spades
sleep
Mr. Potato Head's feet
the crash of block towers tumbling down
Dr. Seuss and Goodnight Moon
apple juice and swim suits
car seats, afternoon treats
arguments to arbitrate
the sudden, unanticipated
I love you, Dori.
Pop and Dori and all the Grands! |
Aw, this is beautiful, Doraine! How very very lucky you are to have EIGHT gorgeous grandkids. That will add up to 24 sets of keys, 8 pairs of potato feet, and the equivalent of the Chrysler Building in block towers! :)
ReplyDeleteYep. I like that image of the Chrysler Building!
DeleteWow, what a beautiful group of grandkids! Love your poem, especially Mr. Potato Head's feet :).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jama. One set of feet, still missing.
DeleteTime flies so swiftly, Dori. What a beautiful group, grandkids included! I'm sure you had a lovely time. When mine leave, they leave 'quiet' behind. (Maybe that's a line for a poem?) Nice to hear from you again.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am relishing the quiet today. That is a good line for a poem. Send it to me when you write it.
DeleteI am there in your suddenly too empty, too quiet but still chaotic house. What a beautiful photographic memory. May there be another meeting soon.
ReplyDeleteI keep looking at the leftover chaos and thinking like Scarlet O'Hara. There's always tomorrow. I'll think about that tomorrow.
DeleteLove the picture! Grandchildren are great fun. You poem reminds me of how I feel when mine leave to go home!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very strange mixture of sadness to see them go and gladness to have my space back.
DeleteThe poem is delightful. I like the picture too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pat!
DeleteLovely poem - and what a glorious photograph, too.
ReplyDeleteThey are quite a crowd! So varied in personalities. Glorious little creations!
DeleteOh wow, what a crew! Love the list. Where IS that pink croc?? Missing YOU! xo
ReplyDeleteWe did find the pink croc hiding between the fridge and the book shelf!
DeleteGorgeous kids - great genes! ;) love the poem and that wistful note.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Myra. They are beautiful to me.
DeleteNot sure which I love more-- the poem or that gorgeous photo of those beautiful grandbabies. So many boys!
ReplyDeleteLots of boys!! Lots of noise!!
DeleteI LOVE your poem! You captured a whole summer in the things gone missing!
ReplyDeleteI've had family here for just over a month. It's been quite a summer. Definitely ready for some quiet and a little regularity in my schedule.
DeleteSounds like a great summer! Enjoyed the sounds in your poem. Nice photo, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tabatha. It was a great summer. Now it's time to get back into the steady rhythm of fall.
DeleteFabulous poem and photo! So many lovely "grands" - from wee to big. I love this line in your poem: "arguments to arbitrate". Put two kids in a room and this will inevitably come about. Thanks for sharing. = )
ReplyDeleteAnd we've missed you too, Dori! Sounds like you had a wonderful summer, though. :)
